Karen Camper

Future901 is proud to endorse Karen Camper because of her record of good public service and investment in the future of Memphis.

Rep. Karen Camper has represented District 87 in Memphis since 2008 and is the first African-American woman or man to be elected Leader of the Tennessee House Democratic Caucus in the Tennessee General Assembly. She attended Southside High School in Memphis and the University of Tennessee, later graduating from SUNY Albany. She is the mother of one and a small business owner. Rep. Camper is a charter member of Women in Military Service for America and her military career includes a Meritorious Service Medal (2 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Commendation Medal (2 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal and a Military Volunteer Medal.

Van Turner

Future901 Is proud to endorse Van Turner because of his commitment to community activism and dedication to the City of Memphis.

Van Turner is a native of Whitehaven, Memphis. He and his wife Tammie are raising their three children in Binghampton. Van is a Partner at Turner Feild, PLLC where he practices civil litigation, constitutional law, and business litigation. He also heads the non-profit that removed the Confederate statues of Nathan B. Forrest and Jefferson Davis from Health Sciences and Memphis Parks. He was elected as a Shelby County Commissioner in 2014 and re-elected without opposition in 2018. Van currently serves as President of the Memphis Branch of the NAACP. Van has served on the board of several legal organizations, including the Tennessee Bar Association, the Mississippi Bar Association, and the Memphis Bar Association.
