To Everything There is a Season
Last November was a sobering experience.
The worst of all outcomes – there is no other way to say it. Here in Tennessee, we’ve been a proving ground for Project 2025. Now the rest of the country is experiencing what we have lived through — a Republican supermajority.
Last November was a sobering experience, the worst of all outcomes – there is no other way to say it. Here in Tennessee, we’ve been a proving ground for Project 2025. Now the rest of the country is experiencing what we have lived through — a Republican supermajority.
But there is opportunity in this chaos, there are lights at the end of the tunnel. As November recedes, we see resistance starting – the spontaneous Monday evening protests at Highland and Poplar; the anti-Elon events at the Tesla dealership and against xAI, the resurrection of Memphis Indivisible, the unprecedented attendance at our rural county reorganizations – people are angry and want to fight back.
Future901 will be involved in these fights. There is work to be done. This is the time to organize, plan, and marshal resources for what’s coming up. This spring, we want to gather new recurring donors to build up our war chest for what we know is coming next year.
Opportunities For Next Year
Districts 83 & 97: Once more, we’re looking to flip Districts 83 and 97 here in Shelby County.
School Board: Supporting progressive school board candidates for our municipalities. Republicans have voted to call for partisan school board elections across Shelby County. They plan to elect Moms of Liberty-backed candidates in Collierville, Germantown, and elsewhere. We know most people don’t want book-banners and curriculum-censors making decisions about their children’s education. There are opportunities for moderate candidates to win in these districts with help and resources.
District 90 Support: Rumors are circulating that Rep Johnny Shaw (District 90) plans to retire. This is one of our few rural Democratic districts, and we must hold that seat. A candidate has expressed interest, and they will need our help to stop a Republican takeover.
West Tennessee Support: And of course, there are some target rural West Tennessee districts that need assistance. Sponsoring fundraisers with them is a low-cost but effective way to help them raise the money they need to build a bench for the future.
So, we’re asking for your help. If you can spare some money monthly, we will invest it wisely and spread our message across West Tennessee. We know Trump’s policies are hurting us all – we know times are getting tougher. But the need is great – by working together and pooling our resources, we can push back next year and start moving in the right direction.
