February 2023: Future901 Update

Future901 participated in two recent events.

On February 10th we held a successful fundraiser at the home of Don Donati.  It was a combination of thanking our recurring donors and a fundraising event to start building our coffers for next year.  Attendees enjoyed hearing from Robert Donati who spoke about Future901’s successes in Shelby County over the last year and how we plan to spread our model for electing progressives to targeted areas in West Tennessee. Danielle Schonbaum also spoke about Women for Tennessee’s Future, a group which recently dissolved but donated its remaining funds to organizations such as Future901 which would carry on their mission.

Attendees included the Democratic National Committee members from East and West Tennessee, local activists, politicians and candidates.  All recognize the need to create a bench in Tennessee for future elections.

Thanks to everyone who came out and so generously donated; for those who couldn’t make it we will see you at our next party.

On Saturday the 11th, Future901 helped host a West Tennessee Symposium for County Parties.  Several members of our Steering Committee participated in this conference along with leaders from 14 Mid-South counties including Tipton, Madison, Hardeman and Obion.  We spent the day doing a SWOT analysis, power mapping, brainstorming on party building, candidate recruitment, training needs and other topics of mutual interest.

In addition, we heard about plans for County Reorganization and the upcoming appointment of Democratic Election Commissioners.

Lots of positive feedback about how meetings like this are needed.    We have additional meetings to be scheduled for Shelby County and the Southeast part of the West Tennessee division.
