The “Daughters” Of Justice Ginsburg Are On The Ballot In TN And They Need Your Help
We write this after the loss of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. It is sobering to see the rough waters that are ahead of us. On issue after issue, the Court has been the only thing holding back an extremist GOP. The reality is that with RBG gone, many of those battles will move from the USSC to 50 Legislatures around the country. For us in TN, it is critically important that we send women to the Legislature to carry on the fight there.
We are extremely angry that We are writing this, less than 24 hours from Justice Ginsburg's death. Unfortunately, Majority Leader McConnell's ghoulish decision to push the issue hours after Justice Ginsburg died doesn't give any of us any choice. This disrespect just underlines Justice Ginsburg’s words that “a woman’s place is where decisions are being made.” For us, those decisions are increasingly going to be made in Nashville. If we wait, women will again see their voices shut out.
However, we have hope. As we look for a way to channel the grief and rage that we feel into something productive, we remember that the three most competitive House races in the state feature strong women taking on exactly the sort of men Justice Ginsburg spent her live opposing. Andrea Bond-Johnson (Dist 82), Jerri Green (Dist 83) and Gabby Salinas (Dist 97) are all squaring off against opponents who have opposed healthcare access, education funding, and reproductive freedom. They are all being outspent by out-of-state PAC money. They need your help and your help could well make the difference.
Below, we are leaving the links to each of their campaigns so that you can give to them individually. We also ask that you consider giving to Future901 as well. To be blunt, we are able to spend those resources explicitly and truthfully telling voters what the GOP incumbents have done. Unlike the candidates, we don’t have to be nice or polite. But, again, we need your help.
Prayers to everyone. The fight goes on,
Future901
