Noah Nordstrom (House District 83) and Jesse Huseth (House District 97) Endorsement

Future901 is excited to endorse these 2 exciting candidates running for office for the first time.  Both are running unopposed in the primaries and will be our Democratic nominees in November.  Please join us in supporting their efforts to  flip 2 Republican seats this fall.

NOAH NORDSTROM - HOUSE DISTRICT 83

Noah is a high school Spanish teacher with Memphis/Shelby County schools.

In Noah’s own words, “I am a teacher with a plan. I am running because my students are under attack; my opponent is waging a full-scale war on public education through private school vouchers, taking away local control of our schools, and limiting teachers’ right to organize. I am running because I cannot sit idly by as my community is ravaged by gun violence. I am tired of the active shooter drills. I am tired of losing students and their family members to gun violence. I'm tired of hearing gunshots from my classroom. I will fight to enact common-sense gun safety legislation. I am running to defend the rights of all Tennesseans. From draconian bans on reproductive freedom to constant attacks of minority groups, we are experiencing a non-stop assault on our rights. Together, I know we can stop the current slate of hate and expand the rights of all marginalized Tennesseans.”

Noah was born in Murphysboro, Illinois but moved to Tennessee when he was 14.  He developed an interest in politics which led him to become an intern and field organizer for the Tennessee Democratic Party (TNDP) in 2016. Noah continued with his activism in college, but temporarily put his academic pursuits on hold and moved to Mexico, where he spent two and a half years teaching English as a foreign language. Upon his return, Noah realized he was now eligible for a full Pell Grant, which enabled him to complete his education. During this time, he returned to his work in politics.

After graduation, Noah began working as a high school Spanish teacher in Memphis. He quickly fell in love with the profession but was struck by the challenges that Tennessee public schools face due to the lack of resources. He knew that he could not sit by and allow the state to wage a war on public schools.

JESSE HUSETH - HOUSE DISTRICT 97

Jesse is committed to ensuring Memphis remains a place where his children want to stay. Jesse is a life-long Memphian. He was born here, went to school here and graduated from the University of Memphis. He works here and started his business here. He and his wife are raising their family here.

Jesse believes the thing that brought him closest to the people and the city of Memphis was his time serving as a teacher here. “My years spent working for Shelby County Schools taught me what all of our students need and what all of their parents want for them—to grow up with the opportunities for success and happiness that we all deserve. If we want Tennessee to thrive, we must make sure everyone is thriving.”

Education and Public Safety are major planks in Jesse’s platform. “Education” is always near the top of the list of issues that voters are concerned about, and rightfully so. It affects so many of our issues throughout the district and the state that it certainly deserves serious attention by any candidate. Jesse believes in fully funding our public schools, opposes the voucher scam, increasing spending on trade and technical schools and making college more affordable.

Public safety is top of mind in awareness right now and for good reason. Local news seems to cover nothing but crime and people are scared.  Jesse believes we must address the proliferation of guns in our state, and especially in our district.  “We need to repeal permit-less carry, we should allow courts to issue extreme risk orders of protection, and demand secure storage of guns in all vehicles."   Jesse believes Shelby County should have its own crime lab.

District 97 has been described as the most flappable seat in Tennessee.  To learn more and to support Jesse visit jessefor97.com.
